"To me, my Krypton wheelchair means freedom of movement."
In 2008, a picnic for people with disabilities was held in Jelenia Góra – various activities were presented there. It was then when I learned that there is such a thing as sport for people with disabilities. In 2009, I went to my first Polish Championship in Kozienice and won a gold medal in shot put and 2 bronzes in javelin and discuss throw. Later that year, I was invited to my first training camp to the Wisła Paralympic preparation center. And so it began.
Sport is my whole life. I can't live without it. It gives me freedom, joy and peace of mind. It allows me to feel needed, important and strong, not only in spirit but also in physically. It gives me a feeling of strength, a feeling that I just believe, I can achieve everything. Of course, it also keeps me physically fit.
I was born in 1978 in Kamienna Góra with my twin sister. When I was 15 i had a skiing accident and my health problems started. I underwent a number of operations that didn't improve my health. As a result of the accident, I have been using a wheelchair since 2003. Unfortunately, my health is getting worse, though slowly.
Two years after the accident, I graduated from the University of Wrocław in Administration, and went on to complete postgraduate studies in the field of Labor and Social Law.
I have also worked in a health resort school and at the city hall as a disabled people specialist. At the moment i don't work but devote all my attention to sport – I do it full time.
The first years in a wheelchair were very difficult. Nobody taught me how to do everything in my wheelchair. Nowadays I am an independent person and try to stay healthy for as long as possible. I live alone so I have a lot of work to keep everything in order, although I am still learning how to deal with difficult situations when my health is not the best. My wheelchair and other devices make life easier.
