Sunrise Medical launches the new QUICKIE QS7 X - redefining ultra-lightweight folding performance

Thursday, May 21, 2026

"Live without limits” defines the philosophy behind the QUICKIE brand. With the ever-popular Xenon², QUICKIE redefined the folding wheelchair — setting new benchmarks in lightweight design, portability, and everyday performance.

Now, Sunrise Medical raises the bar again. The brand-new QUICKIE QS7 X is engineered to push folding wheelchair performance to the next level: folding smaller, lifting lighter, riding smoother, and delivering a striking modern design.

Super-compact fold — fits where most others don’t

Sunrise Medical pioneered compact folding decades ago. The QS7 X takes it further.

The new front-fold mechanism allows the front frame, caster link fork, and casters to fold away in one smooth movement, reducing transport size by up to 45% and creating one of the most compact pack sizes in its class.

Combined with its ultra-low weight, the QS7 X fits easily into tight everyday spaces — making transport simpler than ever.

Effortless folding. Built-in stability.

FreeFold™ significantly reduces the folding force while maintaining consistent wheel camber for enhanced stability and keeping the riders hands-free during transfers.

The integrated Fold-N-Lock system keeps the chair securely compact with one click, making lifting, handling, and transport easier.

Just 6.7 kg — engineered for maximum ride efficiency

With a transport weight starting at just 6.7 kg, the QS7 X sets a new benchmark in ultra-lightweight folding performance. Built from aerospace-grade 7000-series aluminum and engineered for maximum stiffness, it delivers highly efficient energy transfer, precise handling, and reduced propulsion effort.

A patented three-way adjustable caster system ensures straight tracking and precise control, while the one-piece forged aluminum design minimizes moving parts, reducing energy loss and rider fatigue over time.

Integrated LED lights, newly designed carbon sideguards, transport protection, and new premium brake and ergonomic handrims options further enhance everyday usability.

QS7 X series — precision fit without compromise

The QS7 X series offers 20 frame configurations (+35% versus the next leading competitor), enabling precise individual fit and optimized propulsion efficiency. Five models address different user needs:

  • QS7 X with FrontFold option – The Traveller: Our smallest package size with a fully foldable front frame
  • QS7 X – The Minimalist: Ultra-light with clean open frame and compact folding
  • QS7 X Hybrid – The Strongest: Reinforced for maximum rigidity and higher user weights
  • QS7 X SA – The Allrounder: Swing-away footrests for easier transfers and flexibility
  • QS7 X with Pro option – The Expert: Optimized for weight and stiffness with welded components

A new design benchmark for folding wheelchairs

Folding wheelchairs have traditionally relied on bulky U- or box-frame designs with visible cross braces. The QS7 X breaks away from convention.

Refined cross-brace geometry, sculpted axle stems, and optimized caster link construction create a clean, athletic silhouette, delivering a modern, ultra-sleek design that stands apart.

Designed as a complete mobility system

The QS7 X is fully compatible with Empulse power assist devices, a wide range of JAY cushions and backrests, alongside the brand-new JAY LitePro, offering maximum flexibility for individual mobility needs.

Digital configuration made simple

The smart 3D Visualizer allows users to preconfigure the QS7 X online, including estimated weight calculation. This simplifies assessments and supports faster, more efficient decision-making.

“With the QS7 X, we set out to redefine what a high-performance wheelchair can deliver. By re-engineering the front frame folding architecture and frame design, we’ve achieved a significantly more compact fold, lower weight, and greater structural efficiency without compromising stability or ride performance. As part of this evolution, and inspired by the RGK front folding mechanism, we have integrated a new front-fold mechanism into the latest innovation of the QUICKIE line. This established technology creates one of the smallest folding wheelchair packages on the market, allowing the unit to be stored in even the most limited spaces with total ease,” said Bernd Krebs, Chief Technology Officer at Sunrise Medical.
